About National Parks Conservation Association (NPCA)

Who We Are: Since 1919, the nonpartisan National Parks Conservation Association has been the leading voice of the American people in protecting and enhancing our park system’s most significant lands and landmarks. The nonprofit membership organization was established just three years after the National Park Service to be an independent voice outside of government to protect and enhance our National Park System for future generations.

The establishment of the U.S. National Park System is recognized as one of the great acts of conservation in the history of the world. The park system has been called the best idea America ever had. From the geysers at Yellowstone to the missions at San Antonio, from the Statue of Liberty to the river of grass at Everglades, our National Parks encompass some of the nation’s highest peaks, deepest gorges, the most enduring icons of democracy, and our diverse American stories.

What We Do: We mobilize citizens and join with communities, businesses, landowners, and activists to promote legislation that strengthens protections for our National Parks. Our priorities in this historic time leading up to the centennial anniversary of the National Park Service is to broaden the audience of National Parks advocates to engage and excite as many Americans as possible to protect our National Parks well into their second century.

About the Feel Free Cause

Feel Free is an attitude, an ambition and an invitation.

Feel Free is a belief that the National Parks should be well funded, broadly and enthusiastically visited, respectfully experienced and cherished for the national treasures they are.

Feel Free is the momentum to restore the parks in time for their 100th anniversary, 7 years from now.

Feel Free is impassioned advocacy and successive opportunity.

Feel Free is now: It’s time to take in the scenery.
